Our friends at Inis Meain have come through with the goods again this season and we now have one our strongest collections to date in store.
This is our twelfth season working in collaboration with Paraic and his team who are the heart and soul of the brand – Paraic himself started the Inis Meain knitting company in 1976 with his wife Aine.

This is the collection we bought at Pitti Uomo in June ’15…

For this season we focused on keeping the fabric compositions simple and looked to our strengths in previous summer seasons for inspiration so we have a mainly cotton and linen split. Last spring we did well with linen pieces with customers saying they loved this kind of weave for layering and this time it was offered in similar styles so we’ve gone with it but chosen a different colour palette.

This is our crew neck in the 100% linen but this time in deeper tones of dark blue and burgundy along with flecks of cream.

Inis have started to offer organic cotton as their staple cotton and we’ve jumped right on it for Spring, so we have 2 styles which are purely made with this beautiful,  sharp looking textured fabric.
We have our classic off white Aran cable and our navy ‘Sunray’ crew neck, both in 100% organic cotton.
This is the cable……

It couldn’t be more classic on the first impression but then it has to be seen to be appreciated for what it really is – the amount of work that has gone into the multi knit patterns front and back is beautiful when you have it on. That is what sets it apart from your a classic Aran sweater. It’s like a display of workmanship. It’s a DE&S favourite. (but don’t tell anyone!)

The ‘Sunray’ piece is simplicity itself – we just wanted a beautiful navy sweater with a bit of detail and…. this is it!
Inis Meain typically offer a range of more ‘folky’ pieces within their collection which we normally avoid but this piece subtly represents that element and wraps around both shoulders in the same colour tone. The tactile cotton is a lovely weight for the season.

The last style is the ‘Currach’ and it’s the only one with a mixed fabric composition which is 60% cotton, 20% cashmere and 20% silk. So you have the softest handle on this style – a 4 button crew neck in an pearly off white.

It’s quite different to anything we’ve done before with Inis so we feel it could do well, it has an easy luxury about it.

The whole collection is available online to look at in more detail and buy now here.

Happy New Year everyone!
